Machine Shop Quality Inspector

JOB SUMMARY:

Supporting Receiving / Inspection activities within the machine shop to ensure established standards of quality are maintained.  Ensure the quality of workmanship and compliance with specifications on various piece parts and raw materials are met through dimensional, mechanical, and certification inspections.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

●             Receiving / Receiving inspection of Raw Materials and parts from suppliers and vendors

●             Review and refine data collection requirements according to customer drawings, models, & scope of work.

●             Review and scan raw material certifications and special process certifications for accuracy and completeness.

●             Conduct In-process first piece inspection

●             Conduct final inspection of product per drawing requirements and specifications

●             Perform first article inspections and prepare first article documents

●             Perform and prepare Detailed Inspection Plan reports (DIP)

●             Responsible for programming and operating CMM.

●             Creating Certificates of Conformance (C of C’s)

●             Issues RMA’s / NCR’s as appropriate

●             Monitors Calibration of tools and equipment within the Machine Shop

●             Proficient with all standard measuring instruments and equipment including but not limited to optical comparators, testing equipment, micrometers and gages.

●             May periodically assist in training other Team members.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

●             High School Diploma or GED / Trade or Technical Certification

●             3 years experience

●             Proficient in MS Word and Excel

●             Must possess knowledge of inspection methods and instruments.

●             Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

●             Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.

●             Working knowledge of sampling plans and statistics.

We are looking for a second shift CNC Machinist I – Operator for our DeLand Facility!

Job Summary:

The CNC Machinist I – Operator is an entry-level position to perform lathe and mill tasks, learn all aspects of CNC operations, and fill in as needed in other areas supporting manufacturing as part of the Production Team.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains safe operations by identifying safety risks and adhering to safety procedures, requirements, and regulations.
  • Produces machined parts, assemblies, tool jigs, and fixtures by operating and adjusting manual and CNC machines.
  • Performs machine set-ups, tool changes, and minor program modifications with limited supervision.
  • Verifies machine settings by measuring positions and first-run pieces following standards and requirements.
  • Utilizes drawings, sketches, or verbal and written instructions to safely produce high-quality close tolerance parts while defecting defects, troubleshooting malfunctioning processes, and other quality assurance procedures and processes. 
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Performs minor machine preventative maintenance as assigned.
  • Documents daily tasks via designated logs or systems.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs to improve, increase throughput, and identify cost reductions. 

Job Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED and 1-2 years of machining experience are required. Trade certification is preferred.
  • Understand basic safety standards and policies.
  • Basic tool and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprints. 
  • Ability to perform basic shop math.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Manual and CNC machines, G-Codes, M-Codes, lathes, and mills.
  • Ability to understand and properly use inserts, fixtures, and tooling, making minor offsets modifications with limited supervision.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Additional Responsibilities:

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle and feel material, and reach with arms and hands. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 30 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
