PRISONER TRANSPORT OFFICER 
   
$14.00 Per Hour

PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION:
The purpose of this classification, under general supervision of a Sworn Police Supervisor, or other designated departmental official, is to perform functions associated with the supervision, care, custody, and control, of prisoners.  Duties include an element of personal danger and exposure, adverse weather conditions and transporting prisoners. Incumbents perform duties in accordance with Florida State Statutes and established departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.  The incumbents must always be under direct supervision of a Sworn Police Supervisor, or other designated departmental official.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Training, and Experience)
 Must be at least 19 years of age. Be a citizen of the United States notwithstanding any laws of the State to the contrary. Requires a high school diploma or GED. Not have been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement, nor have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States. Any person who, after July 1, 1981, pleads guilty or nolo contendere or is found guilty of a felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement shall not be eligible for employment or appointment as an officer, notwithstanding suspension of sentence or withholding of adjudication.  Have his/her processed fingerprints on file with the employing agency.  Have passed a physical examination by a licensed physician based on specifications established by the Department. Successfully passed a drug screen prior to employment.  Have a good moral character as determined by a background investigation under procedures established by the Department.  Have completed the basic recruit training course for Correctional Officers and be eligible for, or possess a current employment certificate of compliance for Correctional Officers issued by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. Have a valid Florida driver’s license.
