Production Control Manager

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • Ensures that production for all Hudson Business Units  (BU) are planned and scheduled to established lead times. 
  • Use existing and creative key performance indicators (KPI’s) to measure and control metrics associated with; raw material lead time, product lead times based on capacity and demand, ownership of past due items, driver of production flow of jobs through completion and scheduling jobs for success in available machine capacity.

Each quarter top 5’s are determined and approved by the supervisor and employee. One-on-one meetings are held monthly to measure success.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Ensure we are working from a Master Schedule and it is maintained
  • Work with production teams to ensure order of priority is managed to the master schedule and/or past due list 
  • Coordinate activities with support teams and to ensure material and machine availability for new product development
  • Take ownership of past dues and work with production to continually drive down past dues in each BU
  • Schedule and release jobs in a timely fashion that ensures manufacturing success in completing on time
  • Work with production teams to implement first in first out (FIFO) and priority lanes that promote visual management
  • High level of computer proficiency and experience with MRP/ERP systems
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office applications, Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Ensure raw materials are ordered and on schedule to meet customer due dates
  • Measure performance against delivery to customer request and customer promise
  • Work with Quality, Engineering and production teams to remake and re-blank jobs that failed in initial runs
  • Ensure jobs are not left open with partial quantities and closed out within established lead times and/or placed in to a MRB location
  • Work with Supply Chain Manager (SCM) to consistently look at improvement opportunities with suppliers of raw materials
  • Plan capacity of product demand, machine capacity and available personnel hours
  • Communicate with production teams when you see any process that is over machine capacity or under-staffed
  • Work with Program management to schedule and complete NPD orders

Administrative Procedures.  

  • Position is primarily in office environment yet requires ability to work in a manufacturing environment
  • Manage small team of 1-2 assistants that help to execute job responsibilities
  • Runs daily reports.  Scans complete routers.
  • Create KPI’s, visual management metrics and data that supports successful decision making 
  • Adds operations to jobs in system when necessary.  

Cycle Counting.  

    •    Manage team that performs daily/weekly cycle counts, problem solving, and corrective action for inventory errors.

Participates as a member of the Materials Team. 

    •    Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies.   

    •    Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.  

    •    Attends appropriate team meetings.  

    •    As a leader of the Production Control Team; foster strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, 

         annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.  

    •    Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas of lack of cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the 

         team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues affecting cohesiveness.  

    •    Actively looks for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. This position also manages assistants who serve as backs-up the Shipper/Receiver position with:

Processes incoming and outgoing materials.  

    •    Confers with department regarding requirements, specifications, quantity and quality of jobs.  

    •    Processes slit transactions and material card transactions.

Loads and unloads trucks at shipping/receiving dock.

  • Verifies items on packing list(s) against purchase order.

Maintains receiving log.

Unloads sheet and coil stock.

  • Checks chemical analysis in QAD, gages and measures width of material, logs in material, receives material into QAD.

Distributes MRO’s to staging areas in all departments.

Maintains QAD inventory and shipping/receiving records.

  • Accurately accounts for all materials received or transferred to departments.

Maintains daily fork lift log.

  • Observes safety rules and procedures required for safe fork lift operations.

Die Setter 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Assemble necessary tooling and set-up shop floor equipment such as presses or other manufacturing equipment designed to produce, trim, size and finish drawn metal enclosures and stampings.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Assembles and installs proper tooling.  

    •    Checks for accuracy, fit, sharpness and print specifications. 

Sets-up single, double action presses or trim equipment to proper dimensions.

Performs “first-piece inspection”

    •    Checks for height, I.D., O.D., wall thickness, finish, and other criteria specified in the shop orders or special  

          instructions.

Provides an approval status for running the operator and Q.A.

Follows all safety rules and procedures.

Operates shop-floor production control system.

    •    Helps maintain accurate records for raw material, work-in-process and finished goods.

Provides support to other die setters, press operators or other production personnel whenever quality or production problems occur.

Runs presses in the absence of operators.

Participates in continuous improvement processes.

    •    Participates in continuous improvement processes individually and with teams, and champions projects to 

          improve cost, quality and delivery.

Participates as a member of the Manufacturing Team.  

    •    Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and   

          policies.    

    •    Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.
